Every once in a while, you read a story that simply touches your heart in a special way. Today’s short story is an example of an experience of an athlete that will warm your heart.

—————–

At a Special Olympics track meet, a young girl had just won the 50-yard dash and was jumping up and down all excited.

She yelled out to her parents, “Look Mom and Dad, I won! I won!”

Her parents instantly burst into tears.

At the awards ceremony, the young girl proudly stood there as a medal was placed around her neck.

Then she ran over to her parents, who were crying now even more than they were before. The three of them hugged and hugged as the parents continued to cry.

A Special Olympics official who had watched the whole scene became concerned and went over to the parents…

Project Updates

Thank you for helping to spread the word to writers and poets about the three anthologies I’m compiling. My goal is to help as many writers and poets get published this year as possible and to help those who are already published to grow their fan base. The momentum for the projects is growing daily. At this point, it appears that 30-60 writers and poets will be participating in the project.

Please continue spreading the word. If you are a short story writer and/or poet, there is still time to participate. Please let me know if you’d like to learn more about these projects.

The development of my children’s app featuring the Characters in my “Clyde” series of books for young children is going well. I believe it will be completed in the next two or three months.

With Love,
Russ

Grandpa’s Treasures

It has been a while since I indulged myself by sharing photos of my grandsons… I think the title says it all…

Tiny Fingers

One of my favorite rituals between my two year old grandson Thomas and me starts when he rings the doorbell at our front door and My Beloved answers it. Thomas runs in yelling “Papa! “Papa!” (that’s what he calls me) then sprints down the hall to find me in my office at my desk. I turn enthusiastically, act surprised, scoop him up in my arms and give a big bear hug to him as I yell, “It’s Thomas!”

Occasionally, as occurred tonight, he is too fast for me to be in my office when he arrives. I had just gotten out of the shower and was only partially clothed as I heard him run down the hall yelling “Papa! Papa!”

I yelled through the door, “Hi, Thomas! Hello, my friend! I’m in the bathroom and will be out in a few minutes.”
As I scrambled to finish dressing, I sensed tiny fingers wiggling under the bathroom door. I crept to it, gently pushed my fingers beneath it, and wiggled mine without saying a word. Instantly my fingers were covered by his tiny hands, his fingers strongly gripping mine. He burst out laughing with a voice so sweet it captures my heart every time I hear it. I laughed with him, a graying man delighted once again by our childish antics.

Thomas is so young he may not remember any of this, but it will remain forever a wonderful warm memory in my heart.

It is said that good things come in small packages, and it’s the little things in life that often make all the difference. All I know is when that little guy and my tiny grandtwins Zachary and Alexander are around, I see magic and miracles everywhere. When the spell is strong enough, I’m transformed into a young child again, if only for a while.

If I Could

If I could, I’d hold you tight and whisper in your ear,

“You are safe, you are loved, I care, and I’m here.”

If I could, I’d help you find greater inner peace

From all your grief and torment I’d help you find release

If I could, I’d help you forgive those who did you wrong

So you could purge the pain and hurt that’s festered for too long

That deeply buried poison is slowly killing you

I know the symptoms all too well because I had them too

If I could, I’d stand with you through all life’s hottest fires

Because there are so many things about you I admire

I love that you keep on trying when hope and faith have gone

It takes a lot of courage to find the strength to carry on.

A Great Quote for the Day!

This quote sounds like great wisdom to me, along with being grateful and kind (love in action.)

There are many times throughout our lives that we can get so wrapped up in the hustle and bustle of every day life with work, school, family, friends, etc. that we can sometimes forget how wonderful life can really be.

The following quote is a very good reminder of a simple concept….

“Always believe something wonderful is going to happen. Even with all of life’s ups and downs, never take a day for granted. Smile, cherish the little things and remember to hug the ones you REALLY love”.

Unique Pedestrian Traffic Sign in Norway!

For Monty Python and physical humor lovers everywhere.

Traffic Sign makes people do the Monty Phython Silly Walk!

We all know by now that it is very very healthy to laugh. When you laugh you produce hormones that heal your body that make you feel good all round. So you should all have at least one good belly laugh a day, to get rid of many little aches and pains. You don’t get this subscription from any doctor simply because s/he can’t say to you ‘Go home and have a good laugh’ and then send you a bill!
Well it seems someone in Norway had this brilliant idea which should be copied in all cities! Watch this and laugh! Kudos to whoever had this creative brilliant idea to make people laugh! And we should all be allowed to do something silly if only to let the child in us have some fun.
Oh and for those of you…
