Shadows and Singing Hearts

Weekend Humor

One Night, 4 Engineering Students were playing Football till late night and didn’t study for the Exam which Was scheduled for the next Day.

In the morning they thought of a plan, they made themselves look as dirty and untidy as possible with grease and dirt.

They then went up to the Principal and said that they had gone out to a Sister wedding last night and on their return the Tyre of their BMW Car burst.

They had to push the car all the way back and that they were in no condition to appear for the test. So the Principal said they can have the re-test after 3 days, they thanked him and said they would be ready by that time.

On the third day they appeared before the Principal, the Principal said that as this was a Special Condition Test, All four were required to sit in separate classrooms for the test.

They all agreed as they had prepared well in the last 3 days.

The Test consisted of one question with the total of 100 Marks.

Q.1. Which tyre burst ?

a) Front Left
b) Front Right
c) Back Left
d) Back Right

Running with Both Legs

I have a lot of respect for the wisdom that Rumi has shared with the world, but believe he is only about half-right on his piece “The Real Work” included in this post.

Focusing on the “one thing you must do” will lead to a life that is out of balance, and that is likely to lead to heartache.

Many great men achieve amazing things doing what they love but find they are still unhappy due to neglecting who they love (or could love) had they invested more time in that area.

Having one without the other is like trying to run with only one leg.

I believe that a man is much more likely to find lasting happiness and inner peace when he maintains a balance between doing what he was born to do and creating and maintaining strong loving relationships.

With Love,

Russ

The Real Work

There is one thing in this world that you must never forget to do. If you forget everything else and not this, there’s nothing to worry about; but if you remember everything else and forget this, then you will have done nothing in your life.

It’s as if a king has sent you to some country to do a task, and you perform a hundred other services, but not the one he sent you to do. So human beings come to this world to do particular work. That work is the purpose, and each is specific to the person. If you don’t do it, it’s as though a priceless Indian sword were used to slice rotten meat. It’s a golden bowl being used to cook turnips, when one filing from the bowl could buy a hundred suitable pots. It’s a knife of the finest tempering nailed into a wall to hang things on.

You say, “But look, I’m using the dagger. It’s not lying idle.” Do you hear how ludicrous that sounds? For a penny, an iron nail could be bought to serve the purpose. You say, “But I spend my energies on lofty enterprises. I study jurisprudence and philosophy and logic and astronomy and medicine and all the rest.”

But consider why you do those things. They are all branches of yourself.

Remember the deep root of your being, the presence of your lord. Give your life to the one who already owns your breath and your moments. If you don’t, you will be exactly like the man who takes a precious dagger and hammers it into his kitchen wall for a peg to hold his dipper gourd. You’ll be wasting valuable keenness and foolishly ignoring your dignity and your purpose.

Connection

1384252_10151902357631007_1699002092_n (2)

My oldest grandson Thomas and an orangutan shared a fist bump at the St. Louis Zoo earlier this week. My son Ben snapped the shot during our visit to my twin grandsons and their parents this week.

The size of the orangutan didn’t intimidate Thomas at all. He’d have climbed in to play with the large hairy orange creature if the glass hadn’t kept him out.

Last night we gave Brian and Kristi (the parents of the twins) their first overnight away from the twins since they were born. They badly needed it and last night was a good example as to why. One of the twins (Alexander) kept me up until 3:45am and the other (Zachary) woke up very early.

Alexander was very happy just to stay wide-eyed nearly all night. Even with three of us (my oldest son, his wife Erika, and me) to handle 3 young children, we’re all exhausted after just one night.

They ganged up on us! ;-D!

Farmer Created Heart-Shaped Meadow in Memory of Wife

Lasting love… A beautiful tribute to a woman, wife, and the enduring love of a husband still very much in love.
With Love,
Russ

Kindness Blog's avatarKindness Blog

Dedicated Winston Howes, 70, spent a week planting each oak sapling after his wife of 33 years Janet died suddenly 17 years ago.

He laid out the fledgling trees in a six-acre field but left a perfect heart shape in the middle – with the point facing in the direction of her childhood home.

The labour of love has now blossomed into a mature meadow – a peaceful oasis where Winston can sit and remember his wife of 33 years.

His meadow cannot be seen from the road and has remained a family secret until a hot air balloonist took this photograph from the air.
