I’m impressed by what this young person has accomplished at NASA since she was 14-years-old, and believe you will be too. The world is a better place with her in it.

I was inspired by a phrase and message in my favorite kid’s book when I wrote the line, “I may be small but I have big ideas” for a character named V.G. McGurry in in one of my children’s books, V.G. and Dexter Dufflebee. Can you guess the line and the children’s book that inspired me?

The gist of a couple of lines I love from The Rifleman television show:
Lucas McCane to his son: “I guess I’ve been under-sighting you, Mark. I tried to protect my boy and didn’t realize he was a man.”

The grass with the best attitude and greatest gratitude is often greenest. It can take many cuts and keep growing back longer, stronger, thicker, and greener.

Our son Brian and his family’s eighteen-day visit from Maryland to our not-so-sunny California shores came to an end in the early-morning hours today. Our son Ben and his family joined us every day, and our daughter Stephanie visited multiple times as well. We had eleven to thirteen people (a changing sub-set of whom were sick) and three dogs in our construction-zone home for nearly three weeks. Four of the children were under age five, and I can attest to the fact that all five youngsters have healthy lungs and aren’t afraid to to use them at full blast as much as possible. The family gathering was delightful, love-filled, chaotic, messy, loud, and exhausting, and we can’t wait to do it again, after getting a lot of sleep. The image above of my Beloved asleep with our two youngest grandchildren on our messy crowded couch with signs of construction in the background kind of says it all–except there wasn’t all that much sleeping!

One of the many blessings in my life is having an editor named Karen M. Smith at Hen House Publishing. She’s done several projects for me and I’ve always been very pleased with her recommendations, speed, professionalism, and the value she provides. I just learned that she is now able to take on more clients. I highly recommend her.
In addition to the book, story, and publishing-related editing she does for me, the other services she provides include content writing or content editing, business writing (blogs, newsletters, white papers, business guides, etc.), and ghostwriting fiction for others who have ideas but neither the time nor skill to bring their stories to life. I’ve not used this other services, but based on what I have seen her do for me, I’ll bet she would also do a superb job in these other areas too.

It looks like the egg nog was spiked again this year! These foxes appear to be singing Christmas carols as they dance. I wonder if they’re going to be as wide-eyed and bushy-tailed tomorrow morning.
