Thank you to all who’ve expressed interest in buying my latest children’s picture book, “Sir Alex Sleighs a Dragon.” Amazon just began listing the hard copy version of “Sir Alex Sleighs a Dragon.”

Sir Alex Sleighs a Dragon Amazon Listing

The soft cover version will likely be listed in a week or two. I’ll probably receive my first physical copies of it from the printer in about 3 weeks in case you can wait and would prefer to get an autographed hardcopy from me. I plan to sell them for $20 each plus free shipping in the U.S.

With Love,

Russ

Goodbye

Many of you on WordPress have become good friends over the years. This is a hard post for me to write, and it may very well be my last on this site. My Beloved and I are traveling more, and I find myself spread too thin with all of the social media venues available these days. I’ve decided to cut back on most of my social media activities.

I’d like to stay in touch. If you’d like to do the same and if you haven’t already done so, I invite you to “Friend” me on Facebook.

If you’d like to continue learning more about my latest writing projects, book releases, offers, and adventures in the publishing world, and perhaps a little songwriting and poetry along the way, please follow and “Like” me at my Facebook Author Page: https://www.facebook.com/russtownebooks/.

Thank you for the love, kindness, support, encouragement, and friendships so many of you have given to me over the years on WordPress. I wish you and your loved ones a life full of blessings.

With Love,

Russ

Oh Boy! OBon!

IMG_1592

My family and I went to two OBon festivals this month. Obon is a Japanese festival that honors deceased ancestors. Over time, in the part of California where we live, it has taken on more of a flavor of a huge multicultural party of thousands of people getting together with their families and dancing in the streets, eating delicious food, seeing authentic Japanese cultural displays, and playing bingo and carnival games. The photo above features my grandson Thomas and DIL Erika as they dance in a parade comprised of many hundreds of dancers.

In the above photo they’re joined by Thomas’ baby sister Riley. Some of you may recognize that Thomas’ outer top is made out of an old cloth bag in which rice was once sold.

Many participants wore traditional kimonos.

Taiko Drummers delight the crowd with their powerful sounds and energetic performances. We had a great time.

Volcanic Birthday

My Beloved chose to celebrate her birthday a few days early at a nearby Japanese steak house. The reason for the venue? Our grandson Thomas had been there once before and loved seeing “the Volcano” the chef made out of an onion and hot oil! I love the expressions on his and his Mama’s face as they celebrate the erupting volcano. The chef even made a second volcano,  this time including spewing “Lava” by adding soy sauce to the ingredients.

Also pictured is our daughter Stephanie and her boyfriend Dan. At the the end of the table were our son Ben, his wife Erika, and Thomas’ 4-month old sister Riley, but sadly the photo I took of them didn’t come out.

A great time was had by all!

Proud Papa with Twins IMG950400

No, not another set of twins (though the would have been major news indeed.) I’m pleased and proud to announce that our son Brian has been selected for the rank of Major in the USAF!

835,000 People Today Alone

I just read an inspiring and uplifting article. A snippet:

“Every day, another 250,000 people graduate from extreme poverty, according to World Bank figures. About 300,000 get electricity for the first time. Some 285,000 get their first access to clean drinking water. When I was a boy, a majority of adults had always been illiterate, but now more than 85 percent can read.”
