This story touched me on many levels, including as a spouse, parent, son and friend. Thank you for your time! I plan to say that important message a lot more often.

“Thanks for Your Time”

Over the phone, his mother told him, “Mr. Belser died last night. The funeral is Wednesday.” Memories flashed through his mind like an old newsreel as he sat quietly remembering his childhood days.

“Jack, did you hear me?”

“Oh, sorry, Mom. Yes, I heard you. It’s been so long since I thought of him. I’m sorry, but I honestly thought he died years ago,” Jack said.

“Well, he didn’t forget you. Every time I saw him he’d ask how you were doing. He’d reminisce about the many days you spent over ‘his side of the fence’ as he put it,” Mom told him.

“I loved that old house he lived in,” Jack said.

“You know, Jack, after your father died, Mr. Belser stepped in to make sure you had a man’s influence in your life,” she said.

“He’s the one who taught me carpentry,” he said…

Making A Point

I cracked up when I saw the photo and the words accompanying it. I think a lot of spouses can relate!

Superman and 007 Have Nothing On This Little Critter

Nothing appears to be impossible for one with this much determination.

Jan Beekman posted this on Facebook. Thank you, Jan. I enjoyed it a lot.

Detriment of the Doubt

I normally like to think things out
And to give folks the benefit of the doubt
But there have been times that I’ve found
It’s wisest not to hang around
When my stomach starts to churn
That’s the time to leave I’ve learned
It’s so much better to trust my gut
Than be stabbed in the back or knocked on my butt
When things seem too good to be true
I watch my back and wallet too
So while there are times I think things out
I also trust instinct and the Detriment of the Doubt

Caring Communications

Speak

I saw this on Misifusa’s Blog http://misifusa.wordpress.com/2013/03/25/how-to-speak/ and love it. Caring and showing that I care when communicating are important to me, whether I am speaking, writing, or listening. Thank you for the great reminder, Misifusa!

Dinner Time!

Dinner Time

While this may look like a levitating dog, it’s a photo of a friend’s dog at dinner time.

War No More

I think I’ve found a cure for war
So young men and women need die no more
If anyone must fight and die
Let’s make leaders answer their own battle cries
Instead of reasons to go to war
They’ll say, “This cause is not worth dying for
So let’s find ways to turn foes to friends.”
I believe that’s the way that wars will end.

“I Know What Will Make You Feel Better…

…A Great Big Hug Every Day!”

That sounds like a great prognosis and prescription to me!

A Life So True

They say war is Hell and it’s true
But even in war there are rules
You tend to know friend from foe
But in gossiping anything goes

No one is safe from whispered words
Spoken when one’s back is turned
Power comes from dirt that’s shared
Whether true or not few seem to care

Stab friends in the back with a smile
Pretend to like them all the while
But be sure they’re gone when you do
That’s part of the fun for gossiping fools

The only defense it seems to me
Against this cruel conspiracy
Is to life a life so true
No one will believe gossip about you
