While driving in Pennsylvania, a family caught up with an Amish carriage.
The owner of the carriage obviously had a sense of humor, because attached to the back of the carriage was a hand-printed sign: “Energy efficient vehicle: Runs on oats and grass. Caution: Do not step in exhaust.”

Caring and Courage

I still care greatly what friends and family in particular think of me, but do what I do anyway. I believe it’s a bit like being afraid but not letting fear control my life. I acknowledge it’s there and most often keep moving toward my goal. I focus on needing to use the qualifier “most often” less frequently. It would be a lot easier if the fear wasn’t there, but perhaps it’s not supposed to be easy.

I just read some of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s MIT speech and found it inspiring, refreshing, and powerful, especially this part:

“Measure your impact on humanity not by the number of likes but by the lives you touch; not in popularity but in the people you serve. I found that my life got bigger when I stopped caring what other people thought of me. Yours will too.”
