A friend and I were scheduled to have dinner and watch a movie on Friday. He just sent an email canceling our plans because his grandkids will be in town. Having some grandkids living out of the area myself, I completely understood how having them in town would easily trump a night out with a friend. As I typed an email telling him so, I flashed back to high school days when my buddies and I had an agreement that a hot date had priority over a night out with friends. From looking forward to hot dates to time with grandkids, my how the years have changed my buddy and me.
As I typed that last sentence, I realized that I still also look forward to hot dates. Now, they are all with my Beloved. Maybe four decades haven’t changed me quite as much as I’d thought–and now we also get to be delighted by our grandchildren.
I wouldn’t change this time in my life for anything.
With Love,
Russ
I love your delight..
:-D!
You got your priorities right! Also they change…..
Thank you, Ute. They do indeed. As well as stay the same regarding my Beloved.
Russ
I love the buddy agreement concept! Glad to hear you and your beloved still have hot dates too!

Thank you for your comment, Diana. For full disclosure, not all of our dates are hot, but then again, neither were all my “hot” dates with other girls in high school!
Russ
You are indeed a very, very fortunate man, sir.
May I never forget to be grateful for such blessings, my friend. Thank you for your quite accurate comment, Koji.

Wonderful, Russ. Your joy is palpable….so happy for you…
Thank you, Lori. I appreciate your comments and am grateful you are in my life.

Life is good – and it is so good to fully realize that, isn’t it? May God continue to bless you and your beloved with many more years of “hot” and “warm” and maybe even “sizzling” dates! And may your “dates” with your grandchildren be a source of continued pure and unadulterated JOY, too. 🙂
