Moral Dilemna Holiday Humor

Lee, a seven-year-old boy, was asked to say thanks for the Christmas dinner.

The family members bowed their heads in expectation. Lee began his prayer, thanking God for his mommy, daddy, brothers, sister, grandma, and all his aunts and uncles. Then he began to thank God for the food.

He gave thanks for the turkey, the stuffing, the Christmas pudding, even the cranberry sauce. Then Lee paused, and everyone waited … and waited.

After a long silence, the young fellow looked up at his mother and asked, “If I thank God for the Brussels sprouts, won’t he know that I’m lying?”

I had brussel sprouts as a kid at my grandmother’s one time and it was the worst experience EVER, I avoided them for over 40 years never ever letting even the scent near me. Then last year I was in France and we had them served with the meal, often there the meal is not ala-carte.

They were wonderful… which proves – don’t lock yourself in to a decision when things change.

Back then, I wouldn’t have thanked God either for brussel sprouts, but now I do 🙂

Thank you for sharing the fun story. I was that way about un-melted butter for many years. The texture through me off. Then one day it didn’t. Yummy.

As for brussell sprouts, My Beloved likes chocolate, but she loves brussell sprouts. I’ve see her in a grocery store looking for a snack, see chocolate, then see brussell sprouts and put the chocolate back–and not for health or dietary reasons.
