Every Chance That I Get

I don’t know what tomorrow will bring
Or even how today will end
But I do know that of all of my blessings
The greatest are my family and friends.
I could live a long life or die a second from now
So I take every chance that I get
To tell all of them of my gratitude and love
So I won’t leave this world with regrets.

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

      Thank you! When I was a child a friend’s father from The Netherlands looked at me with an “I’m about to tell you something very important that I hope you never forget” look on his face and said with a moderately thick Dutch accent: “The last thing I say to everyone I love before I leave, end a phone call, or go to bed at night is that I love them. That way if I die I always know that ‘I love you’ is the last thing I ever said to them. And they will know it too.”

      Thank you, Mr. Rypstra, wherever you are. I learned your important lesson well and plan to continue following it for the rest of my life.
