As most of you know, I love a happy ending. Awhile back I posted about a high school girl who had been voted onto her high school’s homecoming court but found out it had all been a big prank and bullying tactic. She got the last laugh when the town–and even the people from the opposing crowd rallied around and supported her. Below are some snippets of an article which is linked or attached about nher big night at the Homecoming Game.

Orange T-shirts — Kropp’s favorite color — have been sold with the slogan “It’s not cool to be cruel.”
“It’s just so much right now for me,” Kropp said Friday night. “I had thoughts about not coming but I actually changed my mind and came out. I just thought maybe I won’t have fun. But I’m having a lot of fun right now.”
Her gown, jewelry, shoes, hair styling and makeup were donated.
“The kids that are bullying, do not let them bring you down,” Kropp told reporters. “Stand up for what you believe in, and go with your heart and go with your gut. That’s what I did, and look at me now. I’m just as happy as can be.”
Many in the stands, even students from visiting Cadillac, wore orange, as did Kropp.

There’s something in us that is ‘smugly’ satisfied when the underdog get the upper hand! (well, in me anyway) 😉
I just feel that the world is put back into balance when I see someone rise above bullying.
Bullying and every other act that intentionally inflicts emotional, physical, or psychological harm on others can create as much harm as rape or murder on the victims–and sometimes worse. If anyone thinks I exaggerate on this subject, consider how many victims of bullying commit suicide.
The world was out of balance for Whitney Krop, and the shame and pain was so great that she contemplated suicide. It took a supportive town and a loving family to put her world back into balance.
I hope the ones who came up with the idea to intentionally inflict harm on her are caught and helped. That would be another happy ending from my perspective. They don’t need more shame. I suspect they already have a lot of it.

Well put Russ. Often bullies have also been victims and bullying takes the attention off them temporarily but their actions are still fear-based.
Thank you, Diana. I agree with your comment about a bully’s actions often being fear-based, both fear-inducing to their victims and sometimes fear-induced by someone bigger or meaner than the bully him/herself.
