I’ve often been curious as to where writers go when they create their worlds. In case you’ve ever wondered where I go, the above are images of my writer’s lair. You may notice the ever-present dogs and at least one of the dog beds around and under my desk, and the dining room table I prefer to use as a desk (as it doesn’t feel as confining and I can slide back and forth beneath it.) In case you’re also wondering, no, my desktop rarely looks this clear. I tidied up a bit before taking the shots. I’m a writer, so taking little poetic license is okay. ;-D!
With Love,
Russ

About russtowne
I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.
Tipical Labrador not wanting to miss out!! ππ
LOL! You got that right!
I have a golden Lab ππ
I love labs. We’d had three over the years and are likely to eventually get another.
They are great friends π
They are indeed. I actually wrote a song titled “My Old Friend” about my Chocolate Lab: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=53n2MRHMHJA
I wrote the lyric. Kevin Harris wrote the music and performed it.
Sadly the video is not available βΉοΈ
I just emailed the link to you. Hopefully it millwork now.

Very nice spot. Has a peaceful feel to it. Most of my creative efforts are either written from my dining room table (prettiest view of the mountains from there) or from my sanctuaire (most private, peaceful place in our house). Itβs nice to have your own space, isnβt it?
Thank you, Jan. Both your writing spots should wonderful. It is indeed nice to have my own space
I find that when I go into my little cabin in the backyard, called “My Write Spot” I feel safe and cocooned. Writing comes easy. When I go out on a bike ride by myself I find that the fresh air and wide openness gives me a different energy for writing. I have a few spots. And a couple of different desks. And I love them all. I love your space and your company Russ.
Thank you, Colleen. Your spaces sound delightful, too, Colleen. I like your use of the word, “cocooned.”
I had read something about how a small space can make creative people be more creative. I can’t prove that, but I can concur with it.
I’ve not heard that before but am inclined to believe it. Perhaps it helps us to stay focused. Somehow I doubt that holds true for those suffering from claustrophobia, however. ;-D!
Ah…..a catch to every rule!
So nice and neat is that the norm
I’m usually fairly neat, but not as neat as the paperless desk in the image. I like to have some papers with ideas for my current projects, and action item list, on my desk, but I’m not fond of and don’t work as efficiently with clutter.
this looks like such an amazing and inspiring place to write – wonderful!
Thank you, Beth. I believe I’ve become a better of stories and books for adults since moving into this space.
Quite a difference to the cramped place you had while the works went on. It looks great , let inspiration come! I ‘ve just ordered a second book for my sister’s Birthday as she loves your stories too. (Desperate journeys) Very proud of that book too and that Quote at the back! π
Thank you for all you did to help me to enhance the book, for the quote that I too am proud of and love, and for all you’ve done over the years to support and encourage me, Ute. You’re a fantastic friend whom I’d love to meet some day. My Beloved and I would b delighted to treat you to dinner if we or you ever jump the itty bitty pond and continent between us. I found some issues with the first edition of the book and have created an enhanced second edition. It’s due to arrive on Wednesday and if the issues are resolved I’d like to replace the two copies you bought with copies of the new one, using the same methodology we did before. Does that work for you?
Oh ok, yes that works usually very well if you really like to do that! Russ, I can give the compliment back, you are amazing! I am happy to accept this dinner invitation for that day when we can really meet. ( It is on my list) That’ll be super! β₯
Thank you, Ute. Will do. We look forward to it.

Thank you, Dennis. I sure enjoy it.
