A Golden Moment

I’d been sitting at my desk a little too long yesterday and decided to take a five minute break to see what beautiful and interesting things I could experience and capture with my phone camera. The images above are the first in a series of posts I plan to share this week from that brief interlude.

Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

      They were the first things I saw as I walked out of my home office. For some reason orange flowers trigger the pleasure sensors in my brain like no other color. I love that they glow even on the darkest days. Oddly, orange isn’t one of my favorite colors in any other thing (except oranges.) ;-D!

        Had a pair of orange pants once. My friend called them pylon pants! haha

          LOL! Your comment reminded me of an article of clothing I had that led to pain. While I normally wore very conservative clothes in school–I didn’t want to stick out–when I was either middle school or maybe as a freshman in high school I took a chance and got a bright yellow shirt with colorful butterflies all over it. A very-much non-friend called me “Butterfly Boy” and teased me unmercifully about it. After that I went back to wearing conservative clothes again. Score one for the bullies.

    Thank you, Ute. I agree. Sadly, however, my Beloved doesn’t. It is one of her least-favorite colors for flowers.
