My Beloved and I just returned from a wonderful visit to meet our newest grandson, Raiden, in Maryland, his parents (our son Brian and his wife Kristi) and his brothers three year old twins Zachary and Alexander. It was a delightful trip. I already miss them all. I saw the joke below from Mikey’s Funnies http://www.mikeysFunnies.com and realized how true it is for me.
Little Johnny opened his birthday gift from Gramma. It was a water pistol! He squealed with delight and headed for the nearest sink.
His mother was not so pleased. She turned to Gramma and said, “I’m surprised at you, getting him a water pistol! Don’t you remember how we used to drive you crazy with those?”
Gramma just smiled: “Yes…I remember.”

Thank you Beth. I like to think that thirty years of good parenting helped create the luck, but in truth I was blessed with wonderful children and a great parenting partner. My Beloved may very well have been able to compensate for my parenting errors in such a way that on balance we did well.
