My First Novelette

I’m writing a story that has the working title of “Santa’s Helper.” It is an action/adventure/mystery/crime fiction. I hope for it to be my first electronic novelette (defined as a single story that is 7,500 to 17,500 words)/e-novelette.

The genesis for the story came when I read an interview about a man who was retiring from being a shopping mall Santa for many years. He loved the job but was saddened by some of the heart-felt requests he heard from children as they pleaded for things for others, or to bring back a loved one, or to help the family find a place to live so they could move out of their car. My story is about a young man who is forced by recent family tragedies to quit school and to answer an ad to become a Santa’s Helper. He quickly comes to realize that all is not as it seems. Soon he’s fighting for his life…

With Love,
Russ
