As I locked up to head for bed, the thought occurred to me that there are 6 dogs at our house tonight. That crazy number includes some we’re watching for relatives. I chuckled at what would happen to a burglar who made the mistake of hitting our house tonight. I was tempted to leave the doors unlocked, but couldn’t do it. I locked the doors to protect the poor burglars.
I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.
I pity them too….. 🙂 they have no chance!
On the positive side, I wouldn’t have to buy dog food for awhile… ;-D!
aaahh but what sport for the dogs!
LOL! True. I just re-read “Call of the Wild” and am about to start re-reading “White Fang” so I guess the “Law of Fang and Claw” were on my mind. I’m re-reading a lot of my favorite books I’d read as a child or young teen and am enjoying noting the different reactions to various parts of the stories now that I have nearly five more decades of life experiences under my belt. Cued up are RL Stevenson’s “Kidnapped” (I already finished Treasure Island), then it’s on to Mark Twain’s Tom Sawyer, Huck Finn, and Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court, then Burrough’s Tarzan of the Apes.
My favourite book growing up was ‘Pyewacket’ by Rosemary Weir. Think feline Robin Hood.
“Think feline Robin Hood.” That’s a fun image!
Yes you spoil sport!!
I guess my mean streak didn’t extend quite that far…
Outrageous. The dogs deserve a surprise treat 😀
I’m glad I wasn’t drinking when I read your comment or my coffee would have sprayed out my nose all over my screen and keyboard!
😀 😀 😀 That many dogs, I’d be surprised if a burglar would make it 10 feet to the house. On the other hand, the dogs might have enjoyed a little excitement.
That would also be my bet.
haha that’s funny Russ!
Thank you, Diana. I try, (which can make me quite trying at times!)
yeah, somehow I doubt that Russ. 😀
(Big smile and a wink!)
Yeah I would pity someone silly enough to try and burgle your place
LOL! The dogs weren’t thrilled with my decision. Sometimes I can be so selfish!
You are a compassionate man…..
Thank you for your kind comment, Myra. May you always feel welcome here.
