I love this quote and believe in the truth and wisdom of it. Sadly, the times I typically learn and re-learn this lesson are when I need friends the most. The great news is that those are the times that I not only find out who among my “friends” are worthy of that word, but I often discover others who were true friends who I hadn’t yet recognized as such.
Trying times can be wonderful gifts in that way.
With Love,
Russ

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.
Kurt Vonnegut had a word for it, those people who intersect our lives by proximity and are gone like the wind. Maybe acquaintances are one step above. A handful of true friends in a lifetime is a blessing.
Indeed they are. I count them among my greatest blessings. Thank you for your comment, Bill.

I’ll bet you are indeed blessed with wonderful friends, and suspect it is because you ARE a wonderful friend.
