A Great Legacy

After needing 13 liters of blood for a surgery at the age of 14, a man named James Harrison pledged to donate blood once he turned 18. It was discovered that his blood contained a rare antigen which cured Rhesus disease. He has donated his rare blood nearly 1,000 times and saved over 2 million babies lives.

I saw the above on Facebook. Wow!

I plan to think of this man if I ever again have the thought, “What can one person do?”

Love,
Russ

  1. talk about “meant to be”. he prolly needed that blood then–so he would do what he is doing now. God works!!

This is one way to help others. After my operation years ago even though I didn’t need blood I wanted to give blood and I have done it since even though i have a normal blood group. I feel I might be able to help someone, or even for research.

  3. Beautiful! What a privilege to be able to assist at saving people’s lives in such a dramatic way.
To see this generosity existing makes us, believe in the making of a better world and the power of ONE.

I lost track at eight gallons, but then after cancer, can’t do it anymore. That is one of the things I most regret about cancer, no more chance to get those little fig newton cookie packs for free.

Now, there’s a name which should be more well-known! I love to hear about ordinary people doing extraordinary things. MUCH better than the evening news!! 🙂
