Memorial Day Video

This video touched me deeply. Thank you, beebee. To all people around the world who have died in service to their fellow man and woman, and to all those who have suffered as the result, my sincerest gratitude for the sacrifices you have made.

About russtowne

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

So moving..having a son who served in Baghdad, I have a very visceral and humble response to those holidays that honor our men and women in the military.

I’m so happy that your son made it home safely, Mimi. I’m grateful to your son and your family for the great sacrifices that were made. A nephew is serving in Afghanistan as a chopper pilot and is scheduled to rotate back home in the next couple of months, and my son’s next posting may be there. As I know that you know, no one wants war to end more than those who are in it. May they all come home safely.

This is one of the more poignant videos I have seen on this subject. It touched my heart’s core. Thank you for reposting it, Russ. It is imperative that we keep reminding ourselves of all those who gave their last breath for our freedom and those who serve today that we might enjoy this treasured liberty. We can so easily take it for granted if we are not careful.
