Thank you for your feedback, Misifusa. While I’ve seen some wonderful (and cute) exceptions, I agree that dogs and cats often don’t make great roommates to each other.

As a child growing up, we had a labrador retriever and a cat who were the best friends ever ~ so I know there is love there. Here and now, we don’t have the proper time for dog walks etc so that’s what holds us back, but we would love to add a pup to the mix! ♥
I know what you mean, Misifusa. We’re lucky in that we have live on a quarter-acre in a rural-feeling area (despite living near two big cities) so are dogs are able to run around a lot. Between them playing with each other, and us playing fetch with them, they get plenty of daily exercise. I probably wouldn’t have a dog either if that wasn’t the case. At least not a large dog.

Two dogs would indeed be nice. Circumstances have led us to temporarily having four dogs. They are closer in number to a pack of dogs. I think this is want is meant when someone says, “Too much of a good thing.” ;-D!

I agree with you about Elana, and am grateful that she connected us. I too love dogs and nearly all animals. I even wrote a song as a tribute to my dog Duke and to the bond between dogs and their human friends. It is called “My Old Friend” and can be found on my site by typing that title in the search bar and opening the post of that title dated October 9, 2012. I also wrote a song about my love of nature titled “Nature’s Symphony” that can be found the same way. The post with the link to the song is dated November 6, 2012.
