Gold Fever

It only took a single look
At all that glittering gold
Then once again my heart was held
Spellbound in its lustrous hold

Gold Fever has struck again
But not for the shiny metal
My fever’s for my favorite flower
The poppy with the golden petals

When I behold a field of gold
Adorned by dew drops glistening
As it sways in time with a gentle breeze
My heart can’t help but sing.
