“No More Secrets/No More Lies”: Dedicated to All Who’ve Had Their Hearts Broken By A Dishonest Lover

In an earlier post, I promised to post a song or two. This one has an energy that is quite different from my other songs to date and is dedicated to everyone who has been cheated on, lied to, or otherwise had your heart broken by a dishonest lover. It is a re-post for newer readers. My co-writer on this song is Denis Loiseau.

Love,
Russ

Thank you for taking the time to say so, Mimi. I wrote it partly as a test to see if two older happily married men could convey what it felt like for a younger single woman who has been cheated on and lied to.

To the extent that we may have gotten it at least partly right, I suspect that certain feelings about being cheated on or lied to are pretty universal regardless of gender, marital status, or age.

Absolutely. Sadly, true. There are people of both genders who do terrible things to others. Fortunately, there are people of both genders who don’t.

Most of my songs are either gender-neutral such as “Nature’s Symphony” and “My Old Friend”, or from a man’s perspective (such as “Katie Sue” and “Makin’ Memories”) so my co-writer and I decided to try something different this time. I like the powerful combination of this singer’s voice, the lyric, and the music.

      Thank you for your comment.
