Photos From Shangri-La

PG 6PG 5PG 4PG3PG 2PG Wave

Here are a few photos taken from the enclosed balcony of the Bed & Breakfast where stayed in Pacific Grove. The photos don’t do the picturesque scenes justice. They were taken from an iPad, at less than ideal times of day, when the sun, tide, and waves weren’t at their best. Plus, I am still unfamiliar with taking photos with the kind of awkward device for taking photos. I kept missing the timing of the best wave action even during these off-times. After missing them for about 20 photos, I decided to quit trying to capture them and go back to simply enjoying them.

The house was built in 1888. The enclosed balcony had a little bed that barely fit two snuggling adults. We lay there and watched and listened to the sights and sounds of the sea. The main bedroom was elevated perhaps two feet so that both rooms had excellent views. The larger room had a bigger bed that faced the ocean.

My Beloved can be barely be seen in one of the photos in the balcony bed which is also elevated a bit so that the views are maximized and remove from view the road while in either bed. It is only while standing near the windows (as in while taking photos) that the road is visible. Fortunately, it had little traffic as this is the “off-season”. We actually prefer being in PG at this time of year as it is quieter, with a lot fewer tourists, and the waves are at their biggest and best between November and February. The room rates are much cheaper this time of year too.

Love,
Russ
