Holiday Party Humor

Some tongue-in-cheek advice for those wo are going to their company’s holiday party:

My favorite:

There are two types of company holiday parties. There are company holiday parties in which employees bring their spouses or significant others and perhaps their adorable little kids, and then there are the company holiday parties in which employees typically go alone. Friends and family parties end promptly at 9 p.m. and everyone gets home safely. Employees-only company parties usually last 36 hours and result in at least six people being reported as missing.

back in the days when the internet was just getting hot, I worked for a small printing firm and the Christmas party was a small cheap thing with employees only. I was working part time for a consulting firm, and for their Christmas party they sent a limo to pick my wife and I up, took us to Columbus ( 2 hours away ) where a hotel room at the Marriott was waiting and the party was at a five star restaurant.

That was the best part time job I ever had!

I can see why! Sounds like you had a lo of fun. I was in Silicon valley during some of the biggest booms and heard about some wild and crazy parties with big-name bands of each of the primary musical genres in each major room, etc, but I always managed to work for their competitors at the time.

yes, one time another year we had the temptations, long past their prime in their pink suits. It was absolutely fun.

Which for me, quiet and crowd avoiding made it even more amazing.

Cool! The Temptations were one of my favorite groups.

they were great, and when one is singing and the others are all doing the dance moves, it is so fun!

That image brought a smile to my face. A bunch of years back my wife answered a knock at our door on one of our wedding anniversaries to find me and about a dozen of my friends singing “My Girl” and dancing like The Temptations to the music. I created a post about that quite awhile ago. Perhaps I’ll see if I can find it and re-post it.

  2. I can’t stand holiday business parties. I keep poking my hubs and say, can we go yet, can we go yet? Now? I’d rather drink at home!

  3. These are a hoot, Russ. I especially liked the image of someone hitting the dance floor ’cause they used to dance ‘back in the day’ when ‘the day’ was the Reagan administration. Priceless….
