I’m a lighthouse lover. To me they symbolize many positive things including quiet strength, service, sacrifice for the good of others, a beacon of hope, rising above challenges, a friend reaching out to help, standing up for those in trouble, competence and confidence, a safe haven, steadfastness, reliability and responsiblity, being able to stand up to and get through life’s mightiest storms, and more. In short, they model the type of person I aspire to be.
And they are beautiful to me. I’m blessed to live fairly close to several lighthouses on the U.S. West Coast.

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.
Dear Russ, from what I’ve read on your blog, I think, no actually I’m sure, that you lready are a bright lighthouse that shines thorough this blog. 🙂
Thank you, my friend. Sometimes I think I could use a much larger and brighter bulb!

I love the lighthouse symbolism, too. I think it started early in my life with our Sunday School teacher singing “This Little Light of Mine…” Keep on shining, Russ. Your light encourages me. I need to get back to my blog now that Thanksgiving company is gone and my “free time” is my own ;o)
Thank you for your kind comment, Jan. I loved that Sunday school song too. It contains a great meesage for children and adults. I’m glad that you are going to have more time to blog as I enjoy your posts.
