Me too. Then again, I’d rather learn far more from the mistakes of others than have to make them all myself to learn anything!

for some reason, i prefer my own experiences π
LOL! I hear you! Based on how I too often live my life, one would think that the only way I know how to learn is to make my own mistakes–sometimes the same ones many times–before the life lesson finally begins to sink in!
Russ
LOL don’t you just feel wise beyond your years because of them?
Thank you, Shantelle! In my case I’ve got a LOT of years under my belt, so it would take a LOT of wisdom to be wise beyond my years.
What an interesting coincidence! I just used the “wise beyond your years” phrase in a reply to another reader and then noticed your follow-on reply using the same phrase. I don’t think I’ve heard that phrase in a couple of years and then it gets used by two different people moments apart! There must be a lot of people who are wise beyond their years who read blogs!
Russ
yep. same here. but sometimes this could be used as an excuse for making bad choices.
I know this one too well too! Sometimes bad can look SOOOOO good. In my case it is most often a meal choice or being too sedentary. But to quickly come to my own rescue, I went on a fairly long and strenuous (for me) hike on Satruday, so sometimes even I get it right.

Russ
you are a wise man!
Thank you, Bill. I believe that you are wise beyond your years.
Russ
ha ha… actually I am really really old!
Your photo makes you look young, especially with (if I remember correctly) a couple of young children riding you as a horse. Maybe I should look for a photo of myself that is a couple of decades old…
well, when I was born, I didn’t have grey hair, but I can’t remember that far back ( smile )
my little ones are now fine young women. ( happy, but sigh )
Oh, wow, that IS an OLD photo. ;-D! I know too well about the “happy, but sigh” feelings. At least becoming a grandparent more than compensates for my graying hair, etc. (I thought was safer to just say “etc” rather than to spell out all the many (often less-than-desirable) changes that can come with graying hair… ;-D!

I know, once I start blogging about my infirmities, just take me out back and shoot me!
LOL! Me too!
love this! Because I struggle with pride I know that for me when I learn from mistakes I’ve made, I’m more humble than when learning from the mistakes of others!
Great points, Diana. Me too–both about the struggling with pride and about how my personal mistakes lead to greater humility.

π
Second thing today to get me thinking about regrets and unknowingly had a conversation earlier today, before reading any blog posts, about regrets…today is proving to be a thought provoking day! π
Hopefully the number of your regrets are like those in the Sinatra song: “Regrets, I’ve had a few, but then again, too few to mention.”
Provoked thoughts can be dangerous if you don’t feed ’em. ;-D!
