Regrets vs. Mistakes

“I’d rather have a life full of mistakes than have a heart full of regrets.” –Unknown (Source: tinybuddha)

Me too. Then again, I’d rather learn far more from the mistakes of others than have to make them all myself to learn anything!

LOL! I hear you! Based on how I too often live my life, one would think that the only way I know how to learn is to make my own mistakes–sometimes the same ones many times–before the life lesson finally begins to sink in!

      • LOL don’t you just feel wise beyond your years because of them?

        • russtowne's avatar russtowne says:

Thank you, Shantelle! In my case I’ve got a LOT of years under my belt, so it would take a LOT of wisdom to be wise beyond my years.

What an interesting coincidence! I just used the “wise beyond your years” phrase in a reply to another reader and then noticed your follow-on reply using the same phrase. I don’t think I’ve heard that phrase in a couple of years and then it gets used by two different people moments apart! There must be a lot of people who are wise beyond their years who read blogs!

yep. same here. but sometimes this could be used as an excuse for making bad choices.

I know this one too well too! Sometimes bad can look SOOOOO good. In my case it is most often a meal choice or being too sedentary. But to quickly come to my own rescue, I went on a fairly long and strenuous (for me) hike on Satruday, so sometimes even I get it right.

    you are a wise man!

  4. love this! Because I struggle with pride I know that for me when I learn from mistakes I’ve made, I’m more humble than when learning from the mistakes of others!

  5. Second thing today to get me thinking about regrets and unknowingly had a conversation earlier today, before reading any blog posts, about regrets…today is proving to be a thought provoking day! πŸ™‚

Hopefully the number of your regrets are like those in the Sinatra song: “Regrets, I’ve had a few, but then again, too few to mention.”

Provoked thoughts can be dangerous if you don’t feed ’em. ;-D!
