Hi, everyone! I plan to be at the Great Valley Bookfest tomorrow, Saturday 10/13. I’d love to visit with readers who hail from that neck of the woods. Come on down and say hi. It’ll be my first book event since I released my first book of exclusively western stories at the end of July. I look forward to experiencing the crowd’s reaction to my westerns and other books.

I’m excited to announce that I’ve begun work on two collaborative book writing efforts. One is with a bestselling western author and the other with a noted author of fantasy stories. I plan to keep their identities a secret until we’re nearly done with the books. Stay tuned for more details and the Great Reveal!

I love creating audiobooks! My first one is now available on Audible, Amazon, and Youtube, and I have four more at various stages of development. One or two of them might be released in the next week or two, and the others by the end of this year. My favorite part of creating audiobooks is listening to the auditions and hearing various audio-interpretations of my stories. It’s exciting. I’ve selected three professional voice talents and producers who are making my words come alive in their own special ways.

With love,

Russ

I was just wanting to ask, how it works with audio books. I can imagine , it is quite fun to listen to your own story being told in an exciting way!

It’s quite easy. An author can post a manuscript on ACX.com (a part of Audible/Amazon) and voice talent/producers can send fifteen-minute recorded auditions of a part of the manuscript to the author. The author listens to the auditions and eventually selects a voice talent/producer to do their story, a very simple contract is created via ACX, the voice talent/producers reads a fifteen minute segment of the manuscript again, but this time so the author can request changes or okay it as is. Once the fifteen minute piece is locked in, the voice talent usually has 3-4 weeks to finish the production, then the author requests changes or okays it, when the author okays it, the ACS and Audible QA departments take 10-14 days to okay it, and once it’s okayed it automatically is sent to Amazon, Audible and Youtube. Then the royalty flow from audiobooks can begin.
