My illustrators and I have created many characters for boys, but I have to admit that it’s been much more of a challenge for me to create characters that young girls would love. Until now colorful Mysti’s hair, tail, and tufts near her hooves were bright pink. (Example below.) It wasn’t working with the bright multi-colored stripes and it took me a while to figure out why. See what I mean? Most of you would have figured it out instantly but it took me a surprisingly long time to see how badly the hot pink clashed with her brightly colored stripes.
I’m now quite pleased with rainbow Mysti.
