so good – and yes!
I never knew kids mad swings from lamp posts. It seems like they’d need to be sure to catch themselves as the rope shortened or they’d smash into the post.

I agree, and look how wonderfully dirty they were allowed to get….that was real play fun! … and there was no health and safety in place, they just did what was fun. ( and if something happened we dealt with it and didn’t try to blame anyone else. I remember playing everyday outside and in haystacks etc, it was fun!
Good points, Ute. I remember a friend getting a big gash on his upper leg from a swing in our backyard. My mom took him to the hospital, got him stitched up, and paid the bill. That was the end of it. No lawsuits, blaming, lawyers, permission slips, etc. I miss that world, but I’m grateful for the present with so many miraculous things we now take for granted.
