      I’m mostly an optimist and was still amazed by how many major achievements are being made every year to protect so many more children and families from the devastation of infant mortality, diseases, gender inequality, poverty, and malnourishment. We clearly have a long way to go, but it is wonderful to celebrate key wins such as a disease as terrible as polio being perhaps as little as a year away from global eradication.
