I believe there is much truth this piece.
With Love,

Shawn L. Bird

Here we are

embracing our passion for words

learning from craftsmen

risking ourselves on the page

and handing the paper for critique.

Here we are

together for celebration of what we are

who we are

powerless to resist the compulsion

powerful enough to create worlds.

About russtowne

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

Yes, I believe there is much truth to this take on our “risking ourselves on the page.” I’m trying to write a memoir – telling about “Lessons I am learning from my family.” I am discovering that I am not the only one who writes with the fear of offending and the desire to be honest while avoiding vulnerability… it’s a tightrope!

It is indeed, made more so by the risk of offending someone in writing in a litigious society. I’ve seen posts about such matters that were downright scary.
