Artwork from 3 of My Books to Be Exhibited

Characters from three of my children’s books have been invited to be part of an art exhibit  titled Storybooks by the Bay.

The characters scheduled to make their first appearance in an art exhibit include Clyde the Green Giraffe, Hoozy Whatzadingle, Rusty Bear, and Wilbur the Duck who Flew Upside Down.

I plan to come along to ensure they behave. This is all new to me so I’ve got to come up to speed fast. I conceived the ideas for the characters for my books, then Josh McGill and I developed the prototype, then he illustrated them.

I plan to select scenes from the books to create the hang-ready artwork for the exhibit. To help in my selection, I’d love to hear which scenes are your favorites. Thank you!

With Love,

Russ

Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

Thank you, Diana. I just spoke with Josh McGill about working together to prepare some illustrations of the wall-hanging size for this event. It will be fun working with him again.

    Here’s my vote…from their books.

    Wilbur – page 19

Clyde – from Clyde and I, third illustration of him upside down in the rain (both Rick and I picked this one).

    Rusty – cover illustration

    Hoozy – page 9

You know I do love them all. My favourite is Page 20 on Wilbur, as you can see love in their eyes, The up side down giraffe is always a runner up for me too!
Congratulations, that is great. Enjoy and I am sure they all will be on their best behaviour!

  6. This is wonderful Russ!

I love them all. I love Rusty Bear’s simplicity, but I really love the upside down Duck…..and the giraffe…..and I’m no help….

LOL! I love to hear your comments all the same. Thank you, Colleen. I’m delighted you like all three characters. Rusty Bear is so different from the other characters in my books and many people express how much they like him. I’ve often wondered what it was about him that stood out for people. You may have hit on the head. His simplicity. He evokes a simpler time and way of being.

  7. Russ, I think they should give you the entire gallery to hang all of your books illustrations! I love them all. Clare
