Focusing on what one wants and taking action to get it are powerful things indeed. I love the way Beth teaches and the way her Kindergartners us.

I didn't have my glasses on....
with my class of kinders
to help them
to understand
the process.
they all began by
standing on one side
or
somewhere in the middle.
we also had two happy monkeys,
curious george on one side
and
soft cuddly monkey on the other.
each made big promises,
each told
what they would do for the kinders
if they picked them.
each worked
to get the kinders on their side.
one promised
ice cream every day
one promised
3-hour recesses
one promised
no naps
and
on and on
went the promises.
and the littles
ran
back and forth
back and forth
as they heard
the promises made.
yet
one stood alone
and
never wavered
knowing what she wanted

right from the beginning.
no naps.
ever.
and
when it was over

Brilliant demonstration!
Wait until they find out the campaign promises were all lies and they aren’t going to get three hour recesses, ice cream all the time, and no naps! ;-D! Then they’ll really have a demonstration of the political system. I wonder when Beth is going to teach them about taxes!
Russ
Oh you are a kill joy! Making us look at the real picture…a revolt of kindergartners…the world has never witnessed such carnage…I do fear a tiny tots Armageddon.
LOL! Terrifying indeed! I’d try to make a run for it but I’m pretty sure that most of them could easily catch me. I’m doomed!
Russ
they could easily take most of us down, russ )
And run all day afterwards!
Russ
no doubt!
Me too! lol
they could rise up any day now! look out, they are very smart !
So true! lol
we did have a tax lesson a couple of years back. we built a tiny town and had the kids each buy a house and move in. they each started with 3 dollars. it cost 1 to buy the house, and they used 1 to save and were offered the option of using 1 to pay taxes to pay for public safety, parks, trash, schools, etc. some opted to not pay the taxes and keep 2 dollars, willing to take the risk. )
You’re giving to them fun and easy to understand lessons that sadly too many high schoolers in my state don’t receive.
hopefully they learn and can teach the older ones – yes, his parents laughed when i told them he was willing to opt out of city services and possibly go to jail. said it was his personality and they were right.
it was a gamble, but they rose to the occasion )
Tax revolts can get ugly! ;-D!
Russ
Let me know when you teach them about taxes! 😀
