I’m delighted to announce the arrival of The Grumpadinkles on Amazon.com (U.S.). They’ll hopefully soon be showing up in Canada, the UK, and the rest of Europe and and other parts of the world.

This book has been a labor of love and has come a long way from its genesis when I held one of my then-infant grandtwins who was in a very grumpy mood at the time. I started making up names for the grumpiness, and it led to book ideas, then better book ideas, and finally this book.

Grumbly and Gruffina Grumpadinkle are always grouchy. Their mood is always gloomy, the weather always glum—and not a single soul could make the Grumpadinkles smile, chuckle, or guffaw—not even a teehee! Until, that is, little Wendy asks the cantankerous, cranky couple to watch her puppy. “We’ve never had a dog before,” Grumbly says. “It sounds like he could be a chore.” With a grumble or two, the Grumpadinkles relent, and find themselves puppy-sitting a rambunctious, playful pup that makes a mammoth mess—icky eggs, shattered plates, and spilled milk everywhere! Find out what happens when a rascally pup turns their whole house—and grumpy lives—upside down. Russ Towne’s The Grumpadinkles delights children and adults, keeping them giggling with every fantastic, whimsical rhyme. Each vibrant page of artwork illustrates a life lesson for every child: how a simple act of compassion (even when you’re feeling sad) can turn a frown upside down and open the door to new friendship.     I definitely have some grumpy people who need a few “teehees”. This will just do the trick. I love the story behind the book. What a fun memory for the grand twins, too. Congratulations, Russ!
