A young person who is dear to me recently made comments about herself suggesting that she thought she wasn’t pretty.
May she truly understand the truth of my reply to her:

I like to believe that the vast majority of people have inner beauty, but for many it is hidden even from themselves by materialism, pain, fear, bigotry, greed, ego, messages of scorn from others, etc. Over time, and with the help, support, and inspiration of others such as you, I believe many people will re-discover their inner beauty by pulling off the layers that have concealed it from themselves and the world.
