I included a link in a recent post to my song, “Nature’s Symphony” which was co-written with Kevin Harris. Newer readers may not be aware that the song’s genesis was a poem I wrote titled “Enchanted”. I re-worked the poem a bit today and thought you might want to see how it turned out:
Enchanted
Some folks say there’s too much silence
When they’re out in the country
If only they could hear
All the sounds that inspire me
Sunrise brings out the birds
As they begin their own songs
Except the Mockingbird who knows them all
And simply sings along
Each drop of rain from the storm
Makes a melody
And the voices of a waterfall
Sing in harmony
The leaves on each tree
Sway to every tune
When darkness falls the coyotes howl
Their love song to the moon
They all come together in a wondrous way
To sing and play for me
I’m enchanted by the forest choir
And nature’s symphony
With every note of music
Each whisper of the wind
When I’m away from the country
I can’t wait to get back again
Because nature comes together in a wondrous way
To sing and play for me
I’m enchanted by the forest choir
And nature’s symphony

good one Russ — I like the that you are transitioning your poetry to song. I have to admit whenever I see enchanted I think back to the Disney movie Enchanted where the Jamaican guys in Central Park are singing “How do you know that she loves you”….
Thank you, Bill. I’ll have to go watch that movie again as I don’t recall that scene.
There is a saying in the music industry that goes something along the lines of, “Poems don’t make good songs.” I like to attempt to do what others say can’t be done. I’m stubborn that way. ;-D!
Russ
here you go — so much for me being the tough guy 🙂
So THAT’s how you know! Thank you for letting me know, Bill.
Don’t worry, your “tough guy” image is safe with me. I won’t tell anybody that you watch Disney chick flick musicals! Besides, I’m sure you were only doing it to humor your wife/daughters/grandkids… ;-D!
Russ
yep, my youngest dragged me to it and I loved it. I love musicals!
Love the enchanted poem!
Thank you! By the way, WP recently hasn’t let me “Like” or comment on your posts. It is happening to me at an-ever greater number of sites. I don’t know why that is happening and don’t know how to fix the situation, but I apologize for it and I wanted you to know that I enjoy your posts.
Russ
Oh, thank you for telling me! I wonder why that is but I’m happy to know you like me! I like you, too!
Thank you! :-D!
Russ
You see nature in the same way I do….beebee
It sounds as though we hear it the same way too, my friend.
Russ
I liked this one…………….as I do most of your stuff
I appreciate your feedback, Joanne.

OOPS! I should have mentioned that the poem “Enchanted” was re-named “Nature’s Symphony” for the song. Sorry about that, Clark!
