I Believe

I believe
That caring
Is closer
To the norm
Than not
Sadly, so are
Fear and the feeling
Of powerlessness
If we empower
Those who care
And remove the reasons
For their fear
I believe
The world
Would improve
In many
Wonderful ways

About russtowne

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

I agree with you Russ…one person at a time perhaps, but always trying to assuage that fear..

One person at a time indeed. Like so much else in this world. I think bullying would be much less of a problem if crowds who too often watch what is going on instead simply step in and by their very presence say, “This isn’t going to happen”. I learned that from two girls who backed me up by standing on both sides of me when I was about to get pounded by three boys in high school. They didn’t have to say a word. The fight never happened, and I still have an unbroken nose and all my teeth.
