A Canadian man who thought he’d be able to raise $5,000 to send on vacation a 68 year old woman who had been bullied by students while doing her job as a bus monitor has actually raised over $700,000. A huge check was given to her in a ceremony in Toronto.
She retired.
I love happy endings.

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

I responded to your comment earlier, but it appears to have disppeared. “Appears to have disappeared”. Hmm. Interesting phrase. In any case, thank you for your comment!
Russ
I may just use that phrase- I like it
Me too. Thank you!

This has been all over the news here for months. It’s pretty cool. 🙂
It is indeed.
Russ
I just saw it on the news again!
It’s definately a feel-good story. I’m glad the press is making a big deal about it.
Russ
This story tells us the depth of human compassion first from the person who set out to raise the $5000 and the many who responded.
I agree. It is wonderful to see how manyresponded and the generosity with which they did so.
Russ
I love stories like this – the triumph of kindness over hatred. Good for her!
Yes indeed. Good for her and good for humanity!
I remember the story, but had not heard the outcome. YAY for her. I love when good things happen for good people. And the ceremony must have been emotional.
I too had heard the initial story and that some money was being raised so she could go on a vacation but I hadn’t seen anything until the article I shared showing that the amount raised had soared.
I love that people came through, now if we could just try to raise kids that would never think to do such a thing in the first place.
Fortunately, most people already do. That’s why it strikes us so hard when we run into stories of people who abuse others. I believe we are evolving and getting better, and that when when we learn how to help ease the pain of everyone, so that no one feels inferior or bad about themselves, then bullying will naturally go away.
Russ
It’s a good point and a great goal. All we can do is our part, and stand up for those that can’t stand for themselves. Thanks Russ
I agree with your comment of doing our part and standing up for others. Ideally we can all also be more inclusive, accepting, supportive, and encouraging. Every person we can help to like themselves is one less potential bully.
We can each help save the world a person at a time.
Russ
a cause very close to my heart and that’s the only way we can do it!
Yup.
The fact that she is using some of it to bring attention to ‘bullying’ and is going to travel to speak on it …is even better when added to the story…Diane
That is wonderful news! Good for her, and for the world!
