For Those Trying to Hide–Or Hide From–Who They Are

Be weird. Be Random. Be who you are. Because you never know who would love the person you are trying to hide.

I read the above as a FB post earlier today. I wonder how many broken or boring relationships are largely the result of one or both people hiding who they really are, and how many wonderful potential relationships never have a chance to begin for the same reason.

I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.

“still probably not totally done yet.” I know the feeling. I’ve come a long way–and blogging helps–but I sometimes wonder what else I may still be hiding.

I learned this lesson several years ago. Thank you for the beautiful reminder!

I read a sign in a coffee shop the other day that said, ‘be yourself everyone else is taken’
I thought that was pretty good. 🙂

  5. My present relationship was almost ended because of hiding some important details of our lives to each other.. When I found out that he is already married, I have doubts in mind if he’s the real person I met.. If he was really the guy I used to know.. Same when he found out about my dark past.. but we manage to work it out.. But in my side, I still have the fear. 😦

I can see why fear lingers. A relationship based on secrets is built on shaky ground. I wish you both long-term happiness and greater inner peace regardless of how your relationship turns out.

It is an interesting coincidence that I just got off the phone with my songwriting collaborator on a song titled, “No More Secrets, No More Lies”. We hope to have a professional demo made in the next 7-10 days, and I plan to post it and the lyric on this blog when it is done. Perhaps some parts of the song will resonate with you.
