I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.
how are you feeling now Russ ?
I’ve had a couple of short and mini-flare-ups since the bigger and longer one, but I’m feeling pretty good right now. It is a balancing act. The meds above a certain threshold make me dizzy and nauseous, and sometimes blur my vision so badly that words on my screen swirl, but too little meds lead to the incredible pain.
So during an attack I’ve got to take the maximum dose of the medicines knowing the side effects will be unpleasant, then as the initial attack subsides try to slowly reduce the dosage and the side effects without reducing them so much that a new major attack is triggered.
The good news–and there is a LOT of it–is the meds are still working and that there are often substantial periods between attacks once the major attack subsides.
Thank you for asking, Judy.

Hi Russ,
I am so sorry that it is so bad for you. It sounds like you have your work cut out for you with balancing you meds. Our health is so important isn’t it? I hope you have longer and longer periods between attacks in the future. cheers Judy 🙂
I always make a note to myself that a person should always look for the silver lining in everything, but sometimes in life it’s hard to do that. I do love your Thorns and Roses idea.
Nice quote and a nice one to live by….Blessings ~ Patty
Hello Russ,
Thank you for sharing the quote, it was much needed today. I am sorry to hear about these attacks lately, and I shall keep you in my prayers. I do not know your condition or if you live in a medical marijuana state, but could I suggest maybe looking into it as an alternative/supplement to your other medication regimen? It could help with a lot of the nasty side affects of the meds and such. God bless!
