My wife was once asked in front of a group of 50 or 60 men, “What do you believe is your most important job as a wife? Some of the men looked at me to see if I knew what her answer would be. I just shrugged, as I had no idea.
She replied, “To protect his heart.”
She added, “It’s my most important job to never break his heart.”
I cherish that woman.

About russtowne
I'm awed by the beauty of nature and the power of love and gratitude. Some of my favorite sensory experiences include waves crashing on rocky shores, waterways in ancient redwood and fern-filled forests, and rain. My wife and I have been married since 1979. We have 3 adult children and 5 grandchildren. I manage a wealth management firm that I founded in 2003. My Beloved is a Special Education teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. I'm a published author of approximately 60 books in a variety of genres for grownups and children.
I just sat here in silence for a very long while as the power and depth of those words soaked into my heart. Dear Russ, please send my warmest greetings to your dear wife from me. It sobered and touched me deeply her one simple statement. What a beautiful soul. I am immeasurably blessed to know such good people like yourselves. Sharon
Such wisdom in those few words. You and your wife are lovely people. Please thank her for those wise words, and thank you so much for sharing them here. That is profound. Blessings, Gina
Lovely…
Sir, with a woman like that, it’s no wonder you’ve been married for 30 years! I have been with my significant other for almost ten years and I have never said anything half this lovely! 🙂
Thank you Shron, Gina, Cathy, and Bella! I am a lucky and eternally grateful man.
Russ
Wow!!!
Yeah. I was speechless as she said those words, and I’m speechless years later.
