“The more sand that has escaped from the hourglass of our life, the clearer we should see through it.
–Jean-Paul Sartre (Source: Wordsmith.org)
Sadly, as some people age, rather than seeing things more clearly and broadening their horizons, they instead choose to hide their head in the sand. From that position, they are especially susceptible to being, uh, used, always in the dark, and unlikely to be able to move very far without losing their head.

About russtowne
My wife and I have been married for over 33 years. We have 3 adult children and recently became grandparents for the first time, with a second one on the way! I founded, own, and operate an investment management and advisory firm. My wife is a Special Ed teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. In addition to our family and friends and my profession, my passions include writing poetry, song lyrics, and non-fiction short stories; tending a fern garden and small redwood grove on our property, hiking in ancient old-growth redwood forests, and watching old movie classics.
Wise words Russ! I never understood it either, but maybe it’s easier to hide and run than face things.
Thank you! I think inaction is sometimes based on fear, inertia, laziness, and/or ignorance. I have been guilty of all four at vasrious times.
