My dear friend Mimi at http://waitingforthekarmatruck.com/
presented me with The Booker Award. Thank you, Mimi. I love to read!
Part of the fun of receiving this award is that we’re requested to list our 5 favorite books.
For me, the first two are easy, Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card and Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach.
After that a bunch of books all tie for third place. Some that quickly come to mind are:
The Virginian by Owen Wister
Ivanhoe by Sir Walter Scottt
Alas Babylon by Pat Frank

About russtowne
My wife and I have been married for over 33 years. We have 3 adult children and recently became grandparents for the first time, with a second one on the way! I founded, own, and operate an investment management and advisory firm. My wife is a Special Ed teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. In addition to our family and friends and my profession, my passions include writing poetry, song lyrics, and non-fiction short stories; tending a fern garden and small redwood grove on our property, hiking in ancient old-growth redwood forests, and watching old movie classics.
What a nice new take on the awards. I find knowing what books a favorite blogger reads much more enlightening than random “facts! congrats!
Thank you, beebee!

That’s a really interesting synchronicity, Russ! I posted, just this morning on another blog site, about my experience one weekend in Medicine Bow, Wyoming at the Virginian Hotel (It’s a couple hours north of where I live in Colorado)! It’s where Owen Wister lived and is apparently the setting for “The Virginian.” We even had dinner in the “Owen Wister” room! I love it! I’ve never read the book, but remember the T.V. show from when I was a kid. Maybe I ought to read it.
