I found this story heart-warming and well-done. Here’s the link or URL (I only seem to be able to get the link to work about 1 time in 10 but it isn’t from a lack of trying… and trying). I know, I’m a trying kind of guy…
Either way, I hope you find it the story as fun and touching as I did!

About russtowne
My wife and I have been married for over 33 years. We have 3 adult children and recently became grandparents for the first time, with a second one on the way! I founded, own, and operate an investment management and advisory firm. My wife is a Special Ed teacher for Kindergartners and First Graders. In addition to our family and friends and my profession, my passions include writing poetry, song lyrics, and non-fiction short stories; tending a fern garden and small redwood grove on our property, hiking in ancient old-growth redwood forests, and watching old movie classics.
His son’s response was so cute..it took him a couple of seconds before he realized his daddy’s true identity…how special for him…Diane
I noticed that too. It must be a terrible thing to be gone from a child so long that there isn’t instant recognition when you appear. I know in this case the situation would make a delayed recognition even after removing the hood more likely, but my first reaction was: “That poor man! It’s been so long that his son barely recognizes him.”
I’m glad that he lived to come home to his family and to make the day even more special for his son.
